Why has the 372 been discontinued? :'( What is the marketing strategy?

It is being replaced by the 575 which might work better as a boat anchor. It's heavy enough.

sawguy21, I was under the impression, from what I read here & at that other chainsaw forum, that Canada was still going to be able to get the 372xp for a couple of more years.  Perhaps I misunderstood.  Maybe I'm thinking of the Jonsered 2171, which is pretty much the same saw as the 372xp.

They are telling us that the 2171 is to be around till 2007 and the 575 is not selling here at all, most dealers willnot even bring it in, so with this we were to be out of 372's in early 2005 but somehow they found a bunch of new 372's to sell , they just made more of them

Hoop

The 372 is being discontinued because of actions in the corporate board room.

Husqvarna suits decided that professional loggers wanted a slower, heavier saw.  The lower emissions of the 575 would be a great selling point.  Loggers can't resist things like that.

somehow I donot think the 372's are finished yet , they were to not make anymore of them but they have made a pile of them in 2005  8)

I have been told by a regional Husky rep. that they will be availiable at least trough 2007 over here.

I talked to our rep yesterday. He indicated the 372 will be available here for at least a year, the 55 Rancher  will be gone by spring 2006
I expect the 372 will probably be available in other markets such as South Amrica and southeast Asia for a good number of years. Our Stihl rep saw TV footage of the tsunami relief where crates of 070's were being unloaded. How long since any of us have seen a new one of those?

The 070 is still offered as a current model in Mexico, probably made by Stihl in Brazil.

There are also a copy of the 070 on the international market, made in China.....

I think we still buy 070s here in Costa Rica. Not sure but I can check. Hector says: I need a chainsaw and goes and buys one.  Sometimes I wonder if I have anything to do with anything here.  ::)
So, how did I end up here anyway?

Fla._Deadheader

You just wait until Hector and I get hooked up.  :o :o :D :D :D

I suspect the 070's don't meet the CA Enviro restrictions, and some countries don't have such restrictions.  Where is the World Bank?
Harold, go easy on CR. Don't want the World Bank to put you on their most wanted list  :D

SawTroll,
You can get the parts for them here.  The only downfall is the minimum of 500 pieces.

Well, it took awhile, but I finally bought a 372.  It should be here by next Friday, in time to break it in on a few cords of wood over the weekend.  :D
