I'm glad for you too.I always enjoy it when somebody gets a new toy.You can always keep a fresh coat of paint on the muffler for that "new " smell  :P

Yep, I was the same way back in July. This last Sunday is the first day I had the chance to make dust with my Super LT40, Command Control and all the other horns and whistles. It was a sweetgum the electric company said had to go. Had a real interesting crook, almost like an oxen's yoke. I made a  4" thick slab, 14" high, and 4' in length. Carried a piece to the Urban Forrester my town has on staff. You'd thought I'd carried in a real prize for her. I couldn't sleep worth a poot for a couple of nights before I picked mine up from Will & the guys @ Mt. Vernon, Mo. Just like a kid at Christmas I was too. Congradulations and have fun.

Excited doesn't describe it.  The trucking company showed up at the house instead of work.  Kate called and told me they were heading our way so me and the 2 that work for me set out on the wall at work and waited for it.  When it showed 5 people including the boss came down to the shop and helped uncrate it and put it together.  I think they were as excited as I was.

Congratuations on the new mill.  Enjoy it

That's really great Saw Miller I'm happy for you.
It won't be long all those thoughts and dreams that have brought you this far will be palying out live in front of you.
But, (Like Paul Simon said "reality could never match my sweet imagination") enjoy the anticipation too, because in the end the thrill of the hunt is often more satisfying then the kill.

Good luck with the new mill.

Good go on getting the mill.  I remember when I picked mine up in Indy.  Bear gave me the instruction I needed and continued to work with me after hours to get me on the road.  Here are a few tips:

When you pull into the Woodmizer lot take some deep breaths to relax.  You will be excited.

After they have checked out your wiring (you have read the trailer hook up wiring diagram) be sure to turn the key to the off position. Your excitement will be growing.

Take the keys out of the ignition before you lock the door.  Your excitement will be peeking.

Don't worry if your hands are shaking the first time you touch YOUR mill.  It happens to everyone :)

When you realize that you forgot all this good advice and left the truck key in the aux position, locked the door and the battery has run down, don't worry.  The 'Mizer crew has been through this before and they know just how to handle the situation.  ;D

Your cheeks will hurt by the time you get to the Ohio border.  Stop grinning and the pain will go away by the time you get home.

Enjoy  8)

Well, I took the plunge this AM and ordered a starter Woodmizer - LT15.  I'll be picking it up in southern Miss in a couple of weeks.  Can quarter-sawn lumber be cut with a bandsaw mill?  If so, what is the best way to accomplish this? 8)

Congrats. and best of luck. The best advice that I could think of, that has not been covered yet, read your manuel it will tell you all you need to know about your mill and then when you forget all that stuff the staff at WM is the best at helping us folks out what can't read.

Congradulations guys!

Mr. Greg Bear is a great teacher!   :P

Here he is giving Arky a "time out" for acting up in class.. :D

Here is link to another topic about quarter sawing where I put up some diagrams of how I quarter sawed a small log.  I do large logs just the same - just make more boards.

It's a done deal! I picked up my mill at W M Indy  and the people at Woodmizer sure treated me great.I didn't lock my keys in the truck nor nuthin.I always thought my homebuilt mill done a good enough job but it does'nt campare to this mill. The first log I sawed was a 28 inch locust and it didn't even surf the knots. 8)
