Stumps...to cut or not to cut...

that is the question.

having read several posts here it seems the some people cut up stumps and some people don't.  I was just wondering what the reasons to cut them would be.  having dug out and cut out several stumps I see it could be highly figured but also highly unstable wood to work with. 

As an aside if you do cut them was there any trial and errors that you found when dealing with the cutting, drying and using of them.

You can get some real interesting wood grain out of the stump.  You can also get lots of other stuff.  Rocks, various pieces of metal, fencing.....I guess it depends on the tree and what you want.  Look, cut with care and have fun.

I cut a cherry stump up once.  Pretty wood but I did hit a lot of pockets of dirt.  This dulls the blade quick.   I'm not sure it was worth the effort.  Did get rid of a stump though.  ;D :D
