I was recently consulted about a friend of a friend who had bought a small box store chainsaw (yellow)..
He went thru 3 bars in a very short period of time.

I told him the usual things that might be wrong, oiler not working, oiler set too lean,
wrong grade of chain oil, wrong bar groove size for drive links, oiler oils in bar plugged up etc etc..

Well I was wrong on all points....

The fellow was sawing a tree, picking up his oil jug pouring oil on the bar and then
proceeding to cut the next tree where the oiling "procedure" was again repeated...!!!

Wow!!! who would have ever thought.....!!!!

Is that the same guy that took his chain saw back to the dealer because it wasn't cutting very well and when the dealer pulled the cord and started the saw the guy  said WHAT'S THAT NOISE?

thats when ya say "hey slick" you puor the oil in the tank not on the bar

No, I think this is when you tell the guy he shouldn't be using a chainsaw.

Another case of "buy saw, don't read owner's manual...ruin saw"  My grandpa (timber faller all his life) used to say that it helps to be smarter than the machine you're running.   :D

Sometime's I do get a little PO'd when the darn thing starts talking back at me  ;)   I figure least it could do would be to respect its elders.   Smart alecky machine .
