I have built a 10 1/2 X 60' porch (concrete floored) on my shop for air drying lumber and firewood.  It faces North so will get no sun but all of my weather comes from that quarter.
I have never used shade cloth.  Will it protect the ends of stacked lumber from blown in water without limiting air circulation.  Should I just ignore the water?

I guess I just answered my question.  I think I'll monitor the weathering and add shade cloth if it seems to be a problem.

I have been testing "shade cloth" or confinement tarps hung off my NW wall of my shallow loading dock. I have them weighted at the bottom by bolting a 2" steel pipe every 4' or so, then as needed to load /unload/ whatever I roll them up and bungee them to the overhang. It works well! Very well. Many BIG yards do things similarly. The cloths are pricey but seem to be just fine. You could rig up a pully system similar to a Vinecian blind that are in some houses if you are going to need freaquent access. Reid
