I got Jeff to do a web page for my business recently. Don't know if you have noticed my company name on the front page or not, but check out the link at Old Dixie Wood Works. Jeff did an outstanding job on the graphics and I'm tickeled to death to proudly be a sponsor of the forum.

It is really inexpensive to promote your business this way, and Jeff is really getting good at the graphics for the web pages. If you havent already got your page, I'd suggest contacting jeff and get the details on advertising your business too !

Seems to be a pretty good deal for forum members with small business that want to help me support the forum. I can make the one page web with contact page and host it with a forestry forum address for a year for $15 a month paid annually. You also get listed on our home page.

Thanks for all of the compliments. As I said before, I'm tickled pink about the new web page :) Great Job Jeff !!

That is one sharp looking webpage. Beyond that, it is also a good deal.

As some of you know, I am more of a woodworker with a sawmill and woodlot than I am a sawmill/ woodlot owner who does woodworking. For that reason I am on a bunch of woodworking forums and often find people that are looking for information on sawing logs on their property. Granted some are people with only a log or two, but I have referred them to this website on several occassions.

The great thing about what Jeff B is doing, is that there is a listed resourse in one spot. In my opinion search engine type advertising is a costly gimmick. I don't know all the ins and outs about search engine advertising, but its not a simple proposition and not inexpensive either.

In my opinion, for 15 bucks a month you have a inexpensive adverting option right here. I'll continue to refer woodworkers looking for milling services here.

Best of all it is a win/ win situation. For Jeff B, for the members on here, and for the woodworkers looking for sawing services. Now we have to get more people signed up, because the more services that is advertised, the more woodworkers out there that can be helped. And helping other woodworkers is ultimately what I am trying to do.

Jeff

Less then one week and Getoverit has his website listed in google due to the member commerce links. That amazes even me.  :D

Yup, you never know who's scanning over the site. I've had some scan mine for broken links which I immediately fix. Of course they'de like for you to obtain a subscription...  Maybe they are trying to make me feel guilty, but I ain't. ;D :D

Its really not got a lot to do with me Ken, its the popularity power of the Forestry Forum with Google. They feel we are important to be looked at everyday, and with their current system, they feel anyone we link to from our index page (entrance page) is also important and given preference in listing.

Simply submitting your URL to google to get listed sometimes takes months and sometimes never or very low in the ranks if their search software deems you to be just another pea in the pod.

Thanks Jeff, I was kind of wondering how that search engine stuff worked. I was told by a friend to stay away from it as obviously my pathetic website is more of a personal nature (or peas in the pod as you rightfully put it).

As I said before, I have run across a lot of woodworkers who were looking for a place to have a few logs sawed up. At least now I got a place I can link them too. I hope more members with businesses take advantage of your advertising.

getoverit

WOW I just got my first call from the website today :)

Unfortunately I couldnt help the person do what he wanted me to do, but at least it was a call directly from the website :)
