Hello Guys,

the high costs of heating oil or gas in Germany has caused a run to firewood. Nowadays, there are not only the established brands selling their chainsaws, no, also a lot of chinese junk is sold in Germany, especially at ebay.

An example is a "Menshye JD 72" an exactly clone of a Stihl 038.

An Advertisement at ebay Germany says:"This machine is sold in the USA as Menshye JD 72".

You know, at some places the net is full of s§§t and f§§ls. So can you tell me if someone ever has seen, heard of or bought a chicom chainsaw, which looked like a Stihl (same colours, too) a Husky or a Komatsu-Zenoah?

It seems, that this are the brands which mostly are copied in the PRC

TexasTimbers

Reverse engineering is a specialty in Asia (and the the old USSR when it came to fighter jets) so I am not suprised.
I have never heard of that brand and you have to ask yourself are you going to be able to get parts and service?
For me, saving even a couple of hundred dollars, or even $500 is not worth buying what is probably a disposable chainsaw if it knocks you out of even one day of cutting firewood.
The reliability of a Husky or Stihl is not measured in $500 more, but in having a saw that you know is going to keep you in firewood, and food if you feed your family with it, when the chips are down.

I wouldn't do it. People who own chainsaws are not usually going it for fun. You got to have something you can depend on. Try and save money when you buy shampoo but don't scrimp on a  mattress or a chainsaw.

The oil is all in Texas, but the dipsticks are in D.C.

i work at a sawshop and see more than my fair share of chinese product.
some of it is a very good copy...some very bad.
a chainsaw in my opinion should be the real deal.
a poor copy is not a good way to find out that the chainbrake dosent work quite as well as it should
chainsaws are listed in the top 10 most dangerous tools in the world.
im a professional , so im using professional grade saws

My friend take this advice from me. We have lots of chiness products in Qatar and let me tell you they worthless, they do not last long, and beside there are very dangerous. I saw big grinder very cheap but the guard that goes around the blade made of plastic do you think this will give extra protection. I have purchased 5k generator for almost $ 450 in the beginning it worked good then started to fall apart like the switch is not working the rope for cranking the generator cut and the wiring system started to get short. MY ADVICE STAY A WAY FROM THE CHINESS PROUUCTS BECAUSE THEY NOT SAFE ANYMORE.

Ok,ok...before there will be some missunderstandings: As a Landscaper I can´t afford to work with this chinese stuff. We are running Stihl since around 20 years, Saws and trimmers. before 1985 we run Solo and had been very satisfied with them.

Yes, I have bought saws at

www.cn-chaoyue.com

and have given them to a friend in Poland, which is a forestal contractor, for testing a CS 35 (Copy of the Stihl MS230)

I have a CS 36 and a CS 35 also running here...oh, no not running, to adjust the carb is a pain in the butt.

I háve bought them for checking out the quality, now I know, that are´nt worth a dime.

I have found Chinese products to be of very poor quality. I lived there for a year and saw their stuff fall apart. I would never by anything made in china that I had to rely on.
I also saw North Face, Tommy Hilfanger, DKNY, Tag, Rolex and many more being sold on street corners. Wanna see a $10 rolex? Nice looking watch, doesn't work tho.
