The past year or so Wood Mizer has the Lathe-Mizer listed in their catalogues and brochures.  It seems like a good idea but I am curious is it a lot of set up?  Does it take a while to cut a log?  What is  being made with it and what are some applications for it?  What are the pros and cons........ :( :o ::)

Like BT says...I have one. Right as you get from WM it's kind of a novelty thing. It takes a while...especially by yourself...To mount the logs. I have been in contact with WM about some improvements I have in mind. Once ya get a log mounted ya saw it octagonal and then turn it round. If you are making posts or landscape timbers you will love it. I'm using it to turn down pine logs that are too small for boards, but too big for furniture legs and such. I'm gonna be haulin' mine in ta my machine shop and have my guys do some of the improvements I have suggested to WM and see how they work out.... ;D ;D ;D

I'm still trying to figure out  what sane person    smiley_mad_crazy would have thought it a good idea to run a bandmill into a spinning cant ?
Been there, done that.   Never got caught [/b]

Thanks for the info on the lathe...I visited it and found it informative...

Bibbyman now has one and I see he has some concerns...What has been made and is it profitable to make items to sell with it?

That site shows some nice walnut and cedar.....I'm thinking of trying to do something with all this ash wood we have out here.

Robert :( ???
