I wondered if any of you could tell me the differences in structure between the english elm and american elm?

Ulmus americana, Ulmus procera Salisb (American Elm, English Elm)

I know that american sycamore and european sycamore are two totally different woods, and I wondered if there is such a vast differences between the european elm and the american elm as well? I am particularly interested in finding out about pore strtuctures, density, stability, and ease of finishing the woods.

TIA,
Ken

Here is another elm from a site Swede pointed me to. It has info on wych (Scottish) elm U. glabra

From what I've gleamed so far English elm is much the same as wych elm. Wych and English elms have met the same fate as American elm.
