I remember seeing at a woodworking show where Marc Adams used steel wool and I think white vinegar to create a solution that would "ebonize" wood.  I know this worked on oak, but does anyone know if it would work on other woods, and if my recollection is correct:  let steel wool soak in white vinegar overnight, in something the size of a jelly jar, and then simply brush it on.

Anyone know something about this?   ???
Y'all can pronounce it "puh-SKOLLY"

Had this picture in my gallery where I used it on a walnut knob.  I can't remember the recipe exactly, but the secret was using really rusty steel wool...maybe let it soak a week.
