Folks have been asking for the Excel document that we are using at the celebration seminars that help determine how much to charge for a board. You enter how much you want to charge per board foot and the Excel spreadsheet calculates how much to charge for certain size boards. You can then print off a copy to take with you to the job site. You must have Microsoft Excel on your computer to open and view this file. I have attached it for those who want it.   Thanks

Thanks,

JB asked us to put a note on show comment sheet. Sure is handy when pricing to people who have no concept of BF measurement.

I've set up nearly the same spreadsheet but we have a base price and then have an adder for lengths longer than 10' and widths wider than 6".  Thus a 1x6 by 8' may be .50/bf and a 2x12x16' may be $1.00 bf.

The reason to add for greater width and length is that it takes a bigger better (more costly) log to make a longer and or wider board.

For those of you that do not have MS Office which includes Excel. There is a FREE down load of "Open Office" which includes a spread sheet program that will open all Excel files. It will also create PDF files and will save you a few 100 bucks. Just do a Google for Open Office and down load. Also there is a free PDF reader called "foxit". For those of you that are having trouble with Adobe 8, "foxit" will open your PDF files.
