After reading High Climbers and Timber Fallers I visited the authors website and found he had another book titled The Fundamentals of General Tree Work.  I picked up a copy of this book and had a hard time putting it down.  :P

I don't think there is one subject when it comes to tree work that is not mentioned in the book.  It is a book of fundamentals, and would be a good book for those beginning a vocation were they will be working in or around trees.  It is also a great book for those who are amateurs or "weekend warroirs", I would guess even the seasoned professional could profit from it.

Being that I am from the east coast and the author living on the west coast there are things covered in the book that I will never see in this neck of the woods.  This made some of the chapters more interesting seeing how the big trees are cut and some of the practices and techniques used when cutting with long bars.  A good portion of the book is dedicated to working in the tree and the issues of climbing, rigging, and safety.

I'd give it two thumbs up.  8)

Also I got a couple of videos on cutting second growth trees.  This shows the felling and removal of some good size trees, it was very interesting.  There was another video of some recreational climbers playing in some tall trees.   :o
