Dont be afraid of the smallish electric ones out there, they pack a good whollop for the $$$ I bought one from Grizzly and was VERY impressed.

I have used my 27 ton 6.5hp briggs Cub Cadet splitter ALOT. Works wonderful and have split some mean looking stuff with. I prefer the one that will split in a vertical position for the big ones.

Do you run that off 240 VAC? I was told the 16 ton was the largest you could run on a standard 120 VAC circuit on a 20 Amp breaker (which was why I ended up with the 16 ton electric RamSplitter -- though as it turns out, I'm running it in the woods off my generator most of the time).
