just in the process of buying a circular mill..........any tips or suggestions??
I'd do the same for somebody I liked !!

Well, there are all types of circular mills.  There are swing mills, mobile dimension mills, stationary handset mills and stationary automatic mills.

So, welcome to the forum.  Tell us what you're planning on doing with your mill, and maybe we can fill in some blanks.   ;)

I got to get up and see that new mill one of these days.   I bet your enjoying this nice cool weather after all that heat lately?  Next time your down this way stop by and take a look at my contraption of a mill.

Welcome WAGZ  I built a swing blade mill and I love it.  Don't let them band mill guys discourage you. ;D

WAGZ

Well thanks for all the welcoming !!!........

This circular mill I'm buying has a 42" blade on it and about a 40' track its driven off the pto of my tractor which is about 60 hp........as far as I can tell its sorta a homemade job.......and it also has an axle and a set of wheels on it........with a pintle hitch at the one end........so its kinda half portable........

I plan on just using it mostly for personal use ( I'm building a full scribe log home with lots of board and batten infill on the gables and the garage, also a reasonalbly sized deck out the back)

I started out with a pro cut chainsaw mill that I built myself, but its not really my cup of tea.....works decent, but I've got other things I'd like to get done too........lol........

That sounds like the same saw I bought!  :D  :D

I have a 44 inch blade on a sorta-portable husk and a bunch of other pieces laying everywhere. Someday the pieces will go together and there will be sawdust laying everywhere.

Keep on touring through the archives here and ask lots of questions - that's my tip of the day  ;D

P.S. we like pictures  ;)

does your mill cut fairly accurate lumber?.........mine hasn't ran in some time, and I'm a little leary I may be getting into something I really don't want.......

Most mills will cut accurate lumber if the saw is filed right, the saw is hammered right, and you are running the right RPM.  That's usually the biggest headache area.  New teeth will take care of the filing problem at the start.

The track must be straight wherever the log passes the saw.  Your carriage shouldn't have any side movement to it.  Those two can cause problems, and are an easy fix.

I find that these little port. jobs saw great as long as your blade is good teeth are good and track is right they are usally built so nothing can get of and so they saw good I love mine it saws within 1/32 I cant complain about that.
