I am currently shifting out the first log on two walls of an old loghouse. I have trouble adjusting the old long groove to accept the new log. It is hard work to cut the groove with a small axe working upwards, and the chainsaw is not controllable when working overhead laying in the back.

Has anybody tried those wood shaping disct sold for angle grinders?
They look like a metal disc with a chainsaw chain wrapped around. I have a 2000 W Metabo angle grinder.

Yes, I've had one for some years, they work well and are easier to control than a chainsaw. That said they are very close to you and your hands. Michelle set one down spinning in a raised work basket and it chased her all around the basket. Make sure the grinder has a "deadman switch" not a simple on off switch, if it gets away you want it off. Its a handy tool but use caution.

I have a Rotoclip and they work pretty good on wood and logs for the money.  They too will rip you a new one if not careful.  Go to www.rotoclipinc.com and check them out.  I have worn one plumb out and have a second one.
