Can you just give me a general idea of what a good saw blade cost for a typical woodmizer, if that's possible?  I want to have some reclaim resawn and if we hit a nail or two, I want to have an idea of the cost for replacement of a blade if it's not fixable.  I will hire  a sawer to do my resawing and will have enough for a day's work hopefully.
Anything someone can design, I can sure figure out how to fix!
If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!

I believe we pay around $300 for a box of 15 bands, but I haven't checked into it for a while. Some bands that hit hardware can be resharpened, some are toast, like when you hit ceramic. We get ours from Wood Mizer.

About $20 bucks a piece, not bad at all I think, depending on how long they last normally, but much less than I expected.  Thank you!

Just a thought - I had a job once sawing nail embedded beams, they didn't want to dig them all out & tear up the wood - I had the guy buy a bi-metal blade, about 65.00 then from Suffolk Machinery - I must have sawn off a hundred nails with that blade, and it still cut straight.  If you have a lot of them to do, probably worth the investment.

I get WM .045 blades in boxes of 10, figures out to just under $25.00 per blade, bigger boxes, larger quantities would put the price cheaper. I also have a Stellite(sp) tipped blade hanging the garage that I have had for a looong time, for a nail blade, works fine, but with 3/8" tooth spaceing I can start a cut and have lunch before it gets to the end of the log.

.045 1 1/4 158" blade will cost you $ 20.40 if purchased in boxed quanity. If you order just one blade it would be $23.40. That would be the Double Hard Wood Mizer blade. We also have the Silver Tip for a little less. There is no difference in price for different hook angles 4, 9, 10 and the 13. Most blades we sell are the 7/8 tooth spacing. If you are using lots of blades take advantage of the 60 blade purchase price. 15% off + free shipping.

I neglected to put in that the price I was talking was with shipping added in, fuel keeps going shipping is going to be more that the item ordered. :(

i generate most of my income from milling reclaimed. sometimes when i hit metal, the blade gets so bad so fast that it wanders inches in depth before i can get it shut down. this sometimes ruins the piece of wood, and i cut the blade in pieces to get it out. milling reclaimed can be very hard on the machine. i charge $20/blade regardless of whether i think it can be sharpened or not. i found that when i got blades back from being sharpened, some would break quickly, some would just not cut right. they would look sharp, feel sharp, but something had happened when they hit metal and got really hot, and they were junk.

I get my Lenox woodmaster C's and Munkey blades from Coleman sawmill supply out of Indiana 812-865-4001. I don't think they have a website but are nice folk to deal with and have the best prices I've found.

There is more than just the cost of the blade...I can change out a blade pretty quick when it's dull, however, tp extract a nail damaged, bound blade from a log or cant eats time.  Plus you have to either dig out the nail or move the log out of the way.  Now if you are sawing by the hour you are covered but if you are sawing by the foot that is another story.  I have a flat charge of $25 for nail damaged blades that includes the blade and time for handling.  If you don't charge for hitting nails the customer has no reason to look for them.
Work's fine for killing time but it's a shaky way to make a living.

When is the last time you bought blades from them Flip ???
They qouted me more then that last spring for 12' blades.
Cheapest I could get were WM.

I got mine about 4 weeks ago.  I don't know how they price em but I have been buying them for the same $$ for about 2 years. My first purchase from them was about 20 blades then 15 the second time.  I got 10 this round.  I had some sharpened by a local guy for $6/blade which was $5 too much considering only about 5 out of the 15 I gave him were set right. >:(
I am using, 12'6"  1 1/4"  7/8" and what ever the standard angle is they sell.

I'll have to contact them again and make sure they had things right.
My specs are the same other then I have 12' instead of 12'6".
Thanks for the info. :)
