Ely, I am referring to Peggs, 9 miles south of Locust Grove and 13 miles north of Tahlequah. Not much of a town, consists of a general / feedstore / gas station, a small grocery / hardware store / gas station, and several churches. It used to have a school but I think it closed. I usually stay pretty close to home so I dont get much chance to get lost and @ around $3 for a gal of gas I cant afford to stay lost for long  ;)

Cedarman

It looks like the new cedar mill will be going in just NW of Perkins or about 8 miles or so south of Stillwater.  Will be capable of 500,000 to 1.5mm board feet per year depending on what they saw.

We have shipped the mill to Ok City and the new owners are waiting on the land deal to be completed.  Building already up, just needs some mods.

They will be looking to buy a good bit of cedar logs.
I am in the pink when sawing cedar.

There is a gob of cedar in that area to be milled. I saw a pbs special about a study done on the cimmaron river on the effects of the abundant cedar near the water shed and how it affects the water level of the river. The study concouded, if memory serves me right, that each "mature cedar" would consume 100-250 gallons of water per day if it were available and they linked that to the low levels of the river despite the abundant rainfall we had over last spring. Since then the state has spearheaded nonproductive logging of cedar off the watershed to rectify this and are urging local landowners to do the same. A aquaintance of mine got 400 cedar trees from 4-10" dia for free from such operation and has used them for fence and corner posts.
