Sometimes I feel like I'm spinning my wheels. I solve one issue and it brings up another.

For my poles in my pole barn, I am cutting a tenon on the salt treated part that goes in the ground and attaching an untreated pole to go the rest of the way up.

Easy enough so far...but I want to use two bolts to attach the two together. The treated lumber is corrosive and from what I understand, the new stuff even eats galvanized.

I was thinking about drilling the holes oversize and cutting a piece of PVC pipe the width of the post and running the galvanized bolt through that. Is that a workable idea? Any better ones?

Thanks.....again :-[

Morton builders uses stainless steel nails to put thier poles together. You might want to think about stainless steel bolts. I think farm tec handles them.

Thanks Stonebroke. I tried to find them locally but couldn't even get a quote from the local fastener suppliers.

I'll look for farm tec.

That makes me mad though. I try very hard to support the local businesses and am treated worse than I am with the big box stores. I hear constant bitching about how HD is putting them out of business, but even though I'm willing to pay higher prices (Within reason), still can't get any service from them.

Rant of the day :D

Check with Main Source out of Nashua, NH, 1-800-242-2941, http://www.mainsourcenh.com/default.htm.  A buddy of mine had built a house barn using their bolts and other hardware for a good price.
