Sometime ago, my sister in PA sent me some photos about two ladies who make things out of driftwood.

And I thought I'd share these with you....

Here they are collecting up some driftwood:

Here they are starting on one of their creations:

Here is some of their work:

Some people can make something very special out of what appears to be junk......

Hope you enjoyed the pictures.....
Whatever you do, have fun doing it!

I've seen their work before.  It just goes to show that you don't have to have Quartersawn to make something beautiful.  :D

Great art, very innovative, and well done.

Thanks, Jim, for such great pictures- again I am made aware of things I can't do and never will be able to... but maybe there's hope for sawing and timberframing- getting comfortable (not necessarily good though) at the first and making progress on the second; still need lots and lots of practice.

Speaking of which, anyone interested in a Southern Regional (mainly Mississippi I would guess- easy driving distance) timber framing intro class?  Maybe over a long weekend?  I'd be happy to host and pay a chunk of the expenses of finding a TF teaching willing and able to come down to Hattiesburg (Purvis is just outside) and maybe teach a 2-3 day class over a long weekend?  Might give us all that push we need to go the next step, spend a full week in school somewhere or just get us going on our own... at least the first few baby steps.

They look real!  Like they are actually looking at something.  Those are incredible!

Now, why can they pull old wood out of a river, but we need special permission from the gooberment to do it?  Old wood is old wood, right? ::)
I do what the little voices in my wife's head tell me to do.

Those were awesome. Thanks for sharing. Those women have definitely discovered what they were meant to do. They are gifted.

Those are absolutely incredible. They have managed to capture the stance and posture of a horse perfectly. Obviosly these ladies have spent much time with real horses. I'm astounded by how alive these creations are. :o :o :o :o :o
