A while back, I posted something about our Dodge truck having transmission problems...not shifting correctly and so forth....We finally found a trustworthy transmission place in Melbourne..We took the truck to him yesterday and got the problem fixed...We originally thought another transmission, $2,000... :o :o  On this truck, there's a governor, (hope I spelled it right) that tells the transmission when to shift...It went bad...instead of paying the original thought of $2,000., we ended up paying a little over $400 for the parts and labor...Anytime we have problems with anything, we can take it back and the guy and he will hook it up to the computer for free.. The truck shifts like a new one.... 8) 8)

Glad to hear that all is well with the truck.  Hopefully you don't have any more problems with it for a while. :)

Congrats!  It's almost always nice when something costs 1/4 what you thought it was going to.

If I do recall, grandpa, :D I gave you a nice amount of money for that used and abused truck...Keep in mind that you drove it, Teri and Eddie and then me...that old truck saw better days and then you sold it without telling me... ::)  not to mention no heat, no floor board on the passenger side, etc... :D :D :D

What nice amount of money  ??? ??? ???

That old truck kept you in fine physical condition, didn't it ???  ;D ;D

Kept all the stoopid drivers from crowding you, didn't it ???   ;D ;D

Always got you home, didn't it ???

Think you could still handle it, today ???  I doubt it.  ::) ::) :D :D

Carries-Mom,
If you really need "Old Blue" back I'm sure we can find you an old blue jalopy.  It shouldn't be too hard. :D

"Old Blue" was a hybrid I put together, in Arkansas. It was a 74 Chevy ¾ Ton, cab & chassis. I traded a junk 76 Ford one ton plus the tires off the one ton, for the cab&chassis. WE left the engine in the guys yard. No Trans.

I took a 350 engine and coupled it to a ' 51--4 speed w/granny gear, floor shift, and built a steel flatbed on it. Had a Pipe frame with a 30' telescoping Tower mounted, so I could demo TV antennas, before people bought. "Whatcha see is whatcha get.  ;) ;)

Also demo'ed small wind generators on the tower.  Rebuilt a 327 and put it in, for the trip to Florida, to scope out jobs.

Built a camper shell on it, in the snow, the day the Shuttle blew up over Florida.

Drove it to Florida, and did all KINDS of weird things with that truck. Pulled wayyy to much weight, pulled other cars and boats up steep ramps. You name it. Must have put 150,000 on it since I got it.  Lynda learned to drive in it, with NO power steering. Drove it for a couple years, then it started burning a valve, and the floor was falling out, the camper was leaking, severely, you name it.  Then, they started inspections in Fl. NO WAY it would have passed, so, I sold it to 2 drunks, for $500.00  ;) ;D ;D :D

No pics of Old Blue.  :'( :'(

I learned to drive with an old clunker too and I'm still not fussy what I drive ;D

Never get rid of a good old truck...  Had many cars come and go.
All the trucks since dad's '68 (bought new) are still here.
