The pics show some great work.

The pics are allowed to be at least 450 pixels....and changing the pixels is the FIRST step after the cropping is done.   Usually after I resize first to 450 pixels (longest side) then there is no more need to do anything but save to low compression....

Trying to compress the file first will lead to small pics with large files.   That appears to be what you have done...
