Went to Kauai with my wife and my mother in January and wanted to share these Koa bowls. They were really impressive. Must be at least 40"' tall made from a single piece of wood.

This one is a Lobby Counter, there were several.

The next is the exterior of the hotel.

And the last is the famous Napali Coast. Hard to do justice with a picture. It is over 4000' of vertical to the water.

Anyone want to see pics of the ubiquitous Kauai' Chickens? :)

Yea, but can we have one of the hula girl in the bowl first?

Hey Jeff, you put her in there, so you get us a picture.

Somewhere I have one of me in a hula skirt with a pair of COCO nuts for a top and a long black wig. It was from a dinner/cocktail cruise out of Kona about 20 years ago. Do you all want to see that one? Or the chickens? Joe

These colorful chickens are just about everywhere on the Island. The local explanation is they were either released accidentally during hurricane Iniki about a dozen years ago or they were brought by the Polynesians on one of their trip to colonize the Hawaiian Islands.

A fine looking Rooster

I am still looking for that pic of me. I think my wife has done something with it. :D

According to my grandad,he sold two fighting game roosters to a man from Hawia for $500 during the depression. He said them two roosters brought more than a 10 acer tobacco crop that year.
