I had a guy call and asked about milling some Osage logs after they where injected with some sort of stuff to kill
the leafs. I have never heard of this  and he said the Mo forestry dept said that is what they do to open the
canpey of trees. Will there be any danger cutting the logs with that stuff  or the lumber?

Whatever was injected traveled through only the growing layer of cambium wood just under the bark, between the roots and the leaves. Very likely any chemical is not elsewhere in the wood itself. Should be no danger when sawing the logs at all, IMO.

Would likely have been something like Garlon, Tahoe, or Roundup.

Very few herbicides are dangerous to humans, especially in the concentrations found in the scenario you describe.  I suspect it was probably Garlon (aka triclopyr).

It is often said around my area that Tordon injected hardwoods arn't as good for firewood when seasoned as non treated ones, same is mean't to be for lightening struck ones ???

I've heard for defoliating cotton before harvest, but not trees...  Is this a common practice?

It's pretty common around here, Estiers.  We have a lot of hardwoods that will root sprout profusely.  To prepare or maintain a Pine plantation, injected herbacides into these trees, sweet gum, red bay, loblolly bay, etc., will kill the entire organism.  Then when you remove the tree, it won't be sprouting back everywere.  General appllications can be sprayed, but on larger trees, injecting by "Hack and Squirt", or using injectors, is much more selective and keeps ground-active herbacides or long life herbacides out of the ecosystem.

ok thanks guys. the guy that has the trees wants to have them milled into lumber for
flooring later after they are dry. He wanted to be sure it would not be harmful after he
cuts them down. I am going to find out more and then let him know it will be ok to use.
