who makes them, i was just in the store and seen a bunch of different models, from a distance they look poulanish. i know some of you guys know. any good reviews on them or not?

Italian made, I believe.

The ones I have operated (when working for a dealer) handled very well.

Efco makes the for JD lately, I heard they are going to switch to Stihl. I own a 56cc Cub Cadet made by Efco , seems to be built well but is a little heavy for the power.   Steve

Stihl is going to sell through J-D dealers but will not re-badge them.

Yep they have been rebadged Emak saws for a while, Emak sells them as Efco (ex Olympyk) and Oleo-Mac as well.
