If they don't get their action together, it's going to be "What big 3?"

Yeah, copper is 1/3 what it was a few months ago.  Hardly had any when I sold some aluminum last time, and I asked about copper...$2.75/lb.  A little dumpster diving got me 20 pounds of copper, and it was $1.25 when I sold it  :(  Aluminum cans went from $.60 to $.40.  Doesn't pay to drink beer anymore  :D  ;)

Got $.35 for brass, and $.05 for zinc

The old War Memorial Auditorium in Buffalo, c1930's, is slated for demolition to make way for a lakeside Bass Pro Shop. The demolition contractor had based some of his bid on selling the scrap metal. Now that the market has tanked, he has chosen to pay a huge fine and back out of the contract rather than see it through and appearantly loose more money than the fine they are slapping him with.

My cousin works for a large demo company.  The company has actually been paying for demo jobs because of the high scrap prices.  It is funny to have to pay the owner so you can knock down his building.  I am sure the construction companies will miss the extra money. ::)

I just tried to sell an old lathe to our local scrap dealer - he offered me $10.00 per ton dropped in his yard!  :o I can't even haul it there for that price.
