This was requested on another post, so thought I would give it out-

1 Tablespoon Shortning (Crisco is good)
1/2 cup chopped onion (a large one or 1 whole medium)
2 Tablespoons of flour
1 cup chopped green chili's(fresh is best, but you'll have to grill them to get the skins off. I used canned ones from Hatch, NM)
1 cup chicken broth(canned is what I use)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon salt

Saute onion in shortning. Add flour, cook and stir until slightly brown. Add chicken stock and stir until it is well incorporated, then add everything else, and stir again. Simmer for 20 minutes.

This is great on almost everything but ice cream. Espeially steaks and eggs.

That sounds great pappy. Where do you find the canned chilies at?
