Well here it is.Springtime again.Every year at this time I get the urge to go out and cut down 7 very big Willow trees.Evey year I have the same problem.I have been told that Willow isnt good for anything but sucking up water and making big messes in the spring and fall.
I already know that I cant burn it in the wood burner.
So.Is willow good for anything and if so do any of you folks want it?If I do cut these old giants down Im just gonna stack them on the creek bank for flood control.I hate to waste the trees if any one has a use for them.
Not to worry though! If I do cut them down I have plans to replace them with another species.

Are they in the flood plain and are they doing flood control now along the creek bank? They might be better left the way they are with maybe some additional landscaping around them along the creek bank.

Their root systems sure can cause problems for sewer and water lines though if any are nearby. "Root Killer" needs to be run through the lines periodically.

Black willow is used for musical instruments
If it can't be nailed or glued then screw it
