A craigslist funny. ;D

Here is the text.

There is a good size walnut limb at E Lafayette and N Walnut in Fayetteville, across the street from the old St. Joseph's Church (now condos).

It is in the yard of the red house on the NW corner between the house and the retaining wall, outside of by the white picket fence and under the big walnut tree.

It is big enough to be turned or for someone to do small woodworking pieces. I hate to cut it up and throw it away, so come get it if you want it. Bring a truck, and maybe a chainsaw.

If it doesn't disappear soon, I will post pics.

And iffen you want to try and beat me to it here is the link.  I know...I'm probally being most mean again but I couldn't resist. ;D

The last time I went to look at a Walnut tree it was a Manitoba Maple.  :D

they may be related to someone locally that advertised free firewood. they had some logging tops they said  was free as long as you piled and burned the left over brush. ::)

I guess I will have to catch a plane out in the morning to beat WDH to that prize log. I bet it is small enough that I can put it in a suitcase for the flight back.

Pigman,

Maybe we can partner on that limb and both share in the immense spoils ;D.

Maybe I can beat both of you to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and grab that prize for myself. Being that Larry is like asleep at the wheel on this windfall.

Hey, I want in on this!  I ain't had a chance to try out my new mill yet.  Maybe I could get 'em to send it to my neighbor (COD) and get it when I get home?  Think I'd need to send them a chainsaw first?

To late!  I went and picked it up last night. ;D  She's a beauty, too.   8)

It wasn't too much of a hassle to acquire, either.  After taking off three days work and spending $200 on gas for the truck I had to keep the remaining expenses down. So I slept in the truck at rest areas and ate Poptarts for each meal.  This brought my margins down to $478 a board foot.

He mentioned the log was near the white picket fence, when in reality it was hanging over the fence.  Of course, I did do some damage to a few of the pickets which I had to replace. The owner was a little upset that the fresh white paint didn't match the rest of the fence. ::)

BTW,
The tree was in fact a hickory. ::)  The owner just saw those green nuts each year and assumed it was a walnut. I picked it up anyway.  I had come this far, so I wasn't leaving without it.  He mentioned that he was going to trim his azalea bushes come spring and would call me prior to placing an add on Craigslist. 8)  Yeah, baby!  It's all about the contacts. ;D
I do what the little voices in my wife's head tell me to do.

DanG!  Lost again.  Pigman, we will have to just look for another walnut limb :D.

Shoot, I just seem to miss all the "best" deals out there. Maybe next time I can get Larry to PM me first. I mean after all its not the prize but the chase that counts right? So Metalspinner got some really high priced, prized walnut, uh, hickory and a new contact to boot.
