Where does the weather man come up with these phrases? :D  It's been in the local news for a week now and were on the eve of snap, crackle, and pop. :(  The freezing drizzle just started here.

After the ice storm last year, folks are getting prepared and not taking chances.  Generators flying off the shelves.  I was in Lowes yesterday and saw people hauling out baskets of the little firewood bundles...figured it out and over $600/cord.  I'm prepared also...stopped by the butcher and picked up a slab of ribs along with a boston butt.  Going to do a little smokin tomorrow. :o

Anybody else got ice yet?

We got ice, but it's been here since November  :-\  :-\  :-\  :-\
Why not just 1 pain free day?

Norm

We just got over the 3rd one this year. I'm so tired of winter.

I too have ice, in the the ice-chest with some brew...when you are done with your smoking, let me know?

Boston butt????

could he be referring to a cheap date from Mass?   ;)

Since they just had an anti-democrat elected to their senate seat, anything is possible now.   :D

A minor setback on the smokin this morning...the cooking canopy collapsed under a inch of ice sometime last night and I got a late start. :(  Iffen ya want a bite come on your ski's.  Roads...at least our road is impassable due to ice. ???  Fortunately it's not sticking to the trees or power lines much.

Mixed slush and snow are coming out of the heavens now...not a normal day at all for us.

I guess one thing about living in the North, is that bad Ice storms are rather rare here. We have had them, but not very often. I would rather have 3 foot of snow then a half inch of ice.

We have had our fair share of ice here....  Actually January has been the warmest it's been on record.  We had a few inches of nice snow before the warm weather hit.... it melted long enough to make ice..... then last weekend we got over 2 feet of new snow and the temps dropped..... just never know what Mother Nature is going to throw at us...  ???

Well we got about 1/4 inch of ice followed by 1/2 inch of sleet and now about 7 inches of snow and it is still comming down.  I came to the mill but not had any customers and few phone calls.  Did get some paper work done and now going to head home.

Started about 07:00 in Memphis. Rain, turning to sleet, then snow for a while. On and off each mixing throughout the day. Suppose to get anywhere from 2 to 7 inches by the time it's over. More snow to the North of I-40, ice and wetter to the south. Just starting a pot of spaghetti.

Spaget sounds like good cold weather food. We have about the same as Arky, a little less ice and a bit more snow. Still got power for a change(knock on wood). Gonna have beans and cornbread tonight. Also gonna start a pot of beef soup. The gazebo over the hot tub obviously was'nt designed with a snow load factored in. It just collapsed. Gotta go see if I can engineer it back up so we cacn enjoy the snow while sipping wine in the tub.

The gazebo was a pretty near a total loss. manaeged to save the canvas top. The frame was a twisted waste. On the bright side i did sit in the tub an d have a bottle of wine. Was mighty cool getting out though with the snow coming down hard. The three bean soup with lots of ham hocs took care of that. How was the sketti?

Here in northeast Ms.  we just barly missed a major problem...last night is was raing hard and there were ice sickles (sp.. help me out) hanging from the front porch..another 2 or 3 deg. and we would have had a real mess...early this morning the temp. dropped and all the bridges in the northern part of the county iced up..but most precip. had moved out....wrecker business was real good. For me, this event as Larry called it, is just about over. Spent the last couple of days in and around the town of Malvern, AR. Nice looking country and some good folks too. Haven't found any members on the map close by, but did meet a guy here with a M. D. mill. Looked to be a nice set up and he and his wife were right frendily people too. Told him about this site, maybe he'll log in.
ely, Did you end up going to that mess over west of you? I've got some buddies that went up there and they are hearing another week to ten days to finish up.
