My new (to me!) truck!

So I've been wanting a truck, and have been keeping an eye out on Craigslist.  Since I'm in Michigan, it's hard to find any old trucks that aren't riddled with rust, because of the salt.  I saw this beaut from the south, and decided to bite the bullet.  It's a 1994 F150--I was hoping for something a little beefier, and maybe 4x4, but I think she's a beauty, so I bought her yesterday.  I took her for a spin this afternoon, on a beautiful fall day, with the windows down, and sure enjoyed driving my own truck.  8) The Impala I've got will be my daily driver, but I've got all kinds of projects lined up for this puppy already...and besides, every guy needs a truck, right?   8)

I honestly don't understand why many more people don't own pickups. I can see why a funeral home needs cars...but beyond that, a truck is truely useful.

An F-150 can be a real work-horse.  An electric winch placed in a convenient spot will help to get you out of a lot of those bad spots, without having the maintenance or expence of 4wd. putting it on the front makes you carry a lot of weight on the front suspension all of the time, but putting it in the front of the bed of the truck is a good compromise. 

What's really neat about a truck is being above some of the other vehicles. Seeing the road is a lot easier.   Red and white, good mirrors, a tool box and rails on the bed, you keep that up and you won't be talking to us before long.  :D

If you keep the windows rolled up, sing and pat your hands on the steering wheel, people will think that you have air conditioning and a fancy stereo.

but you need a dump truck. every country boy that has a sawmill needs a dump truck. mine is an older nissan with duals and an electric dump. it is not for sale until my estate sale or until i am too old to drive it.

Congrats on the new truck!  I had a 93 150, bought it with 120k miles or so and put that many more on it with very little work/money into it.  Enjoy!

beware that my 91 f150 wont get out of its own way if there is any snow on the flat surface even if its pointing down hill with a good tail wind...

This is snow country, and I ran a 1980 chevy half-ton, 2WD for 25 years. About once every 4 or 5 years I'd have to chain it up to get up a hill. Most of the time no problem.

The secret? Good winter tires and 9 concrete blocks clamped in an angle-iron frame that I bolted to the back of the box. Altogether about 400 extra pounds. I was able to skid logs in the snow with that truck. Helped a few 4x4's get unstuck with it as well.

Congradulations.  My first new automobile was a 1977 then F-100 Red, three on the tree w/ no air just an am/fm radio.  I figured air would add $12 to the monthly not so I said I use the two windows and 55 mph.

Just what I was thinking.   :D

It's got high miles on it, but supposedly about 35,000 miles ago, they replaced the standard straight six with a 351 V8, which had about 25,000 miles on it at the time.  It hauls!   8)

I'm going to put a Flowmaster on it, to get a nice rumble.  It sounds too much like a van right now.   ;)

nice truck.    my "new truck"  is a southern 90 f-150 2wd,  extended cab, long box......   best dang truck i've had in the snow.  a good set of snow tires and it'll go anywhere......  well.  up to the bumper anyway :
