Well I have been bowhunting a lot in SW missouri.  I have an excellent spot and have been seeing no to few deer.  In prior years I have seen as many as 30 different deer from my best stand.  This year I have seen probably 7 total in all hunts.  The acorns are as big as golf balls almost.  The weather is warm.  It stinks.  Is anyone else about to give up on slamming a big one?

Here in NW Arkansas we've been watching does with there fawns, along with the occasional buck every morning and evening.  Sometimes all day long.  It's been a few weeks and haven't see a one.  Kathy thinks they know when the season opens and run off to the surrounding parks. ???

They will show back up bout the time the wind starts howling from the north pole.

I'm on the other side of Mo. deep in the bootheel. We're having an extreme drought , some say records of fifty years are now broken in rainfall totals, like, none so far in October, 1/2" in September, and also less than an inch in August. Yet, I watch deer come out each evening feeding along a woodslot, nibble on soybeans, then, head out over open fields a quarter mile to a small lake.

These deer must cross a dry stream bed but noticed lately the deer have found pig and smart weeds growing in the bottom of the stream-bed, obviously, they must enjoy some tender juicy shoots before watering. The bucks have followed does, a couple of which seem to be in full rutt. A good cool snap[and rain] would be great right now. Dust bowl days [smoke an haze also] here.

It all adds up to just being plain tough for me.  Although we did get a little rain the past day or so.  It wasnt enought.  Temps should cool next week maybe that will get them going.

I got in stand today at 1pm and seen three does at one thirty.  They all three were panting and very hot looking.  I just knew a old bucky was headed that way but he never showed.  I think they were just hot headed for water.  Only deer I seen.  Terrible.
