How often do yall clean the contact strip? Whats the best way to dress it? steel wool, sand paper, ???

If the sawmill has been idle for a while the strip may tarnish.  I have used both, but I usually use 600 grit emery paper.

I use one of those little round wire buffer thingy's in a cordless drill.

I don't know what you call what I use. It's a block of rubbery material (kind of like an eraser) with a very fine abrasive embedded in it. Measures about 2 x3 x 3/4". Barb bought three of them 20 years ago and let me have the medium grit one. Works like a charm.

Any time you start having contact problems I clean the strip,I keep a emery strip 200 grit in my tool box. Tim
