Thursday night we had 5" of rain in 6 hours. Brooks and rivers were already high and the ground saturated from the record wet spring. There are washed out roads everywhere. Stan Robinson's Log yard in Passumpsic is along the Water Andric Brook which came up and totally washed out his yard. Here is a picture of US Rt 5 just below his yard with some of his logs in the debris.

Water has no mercy. We had a storm in June 2 years ago, 4.5" in 2 hours :o I had hydrualic pressure on my basement wall it looked like some guy was pissing thru the wall.  :D. Washed out my "truck route" drive along the creek, I musta moved 30 ton of road base back into position from were it fanned out and settled in a field below.  Were all cleaned up no but man that is ALOT of water.

That could be here. We endured the coldest and wettest April and May on record. Where is Al Gore and his global warming when we need him?

At my place, we have had zero days with rain since the first week of April.  That is 54 days.  This just shows you how weird and crazy the weather has been this year.  It does not seem to matter where you are, there is some sort of extreme happening.

It's bad news on alot of roads.  Most back roads (dirt) look like that, or worse.  Impassable in many places.  Not sure if the hardware store in cabot will reopen, route 2 is closed.  We don't often get storms like this in VT, but when we do the flash floods do serious damage.  So many hills and valleys to channel the water.  This was the remnants of serious tornadoes out west, and I'm thankful we only have roads to repair, along with some flood damage.  At least we still have our roofs over our heads.

We're in the middle of what's called an extreme drought here in TX. Gone through the driest eight months on record so far and the only thing that is going to break the cycle is going to be a hurricane.
Temps are in the mid to upper 90's and a south-east wind of 10 - 20 MPH that has been blowing since spring. The only things growing around here are what we are watering. In a normal year I most probably would be making a second cutting of hay this weekend. Instead, I'm having to feed.
G-man, send a couple hours worth of that rain down here.
