Just to change the subject a bit here, just looking at the cooks single tooth setter, to do both sides of the blade does one have to change the blade side for side  or turn it insideout to do both sides of the blade?
Its better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

with the Cooks single tooth setter you would set one side then turn blade inside out to do the other side. I went to Cooks last year to pick my sharpener, setter and roller up. I couldnt decide whether to get the single tooth setter or the dual tooth setter. Tim Cook suggested I get the single tooth setter (I think he could tell I was an amateur). Turns out it works great and I dont feel I need to set any faster.

Here is my set up...After you turn the band you send it in the other direction from what you did the first go round...Tim
Never explain, your friends don't need it, and your enemies won't believe you any way.

When I take a blade off of the mill, the first thing I do is invert it.

When I get back to the shop, I set that side of the blade, then invert it again and set the other side, then I put it on the sharpener and when it gets back around to the start point, it's done and it goes into the mobile blade box, ready to saw again!

Thanks again for all of the info you provided to me Tim (banjo picker)!  I have no regrets in picking the Cook's Cat Claw sharpener!

About 20 more blades and it will be amortized out.

How bout the TimberKing sharpener, just how good are they? They have a dealer over the ditch in Australia and they are $US995 vs Cooks at twice the price. I haven't priced the freight on the TimberKing one yet. I would be interested in hearing back from anyone who used one.

I've been running a TK sharpener made by Wright for the last 9 years and have sharpened thousands of blades on it, 1 pass around 6 to 7 minutes on a 12' 6" blade.  It works great, the motor is not overpowered like the 1/2hp on the Cooks and you cant hog off a lot of metal but you shouldn't .  No repairs yet, just new wheels.     Steve
