Went to the VA Farm Show today and touched a new LT40HDG25 8)   It was NICE!     8)

I also looked at the Timber Harvester and 3 or 4 different models of Hud-Son bandmills.  I went back at the Wood Mizer display 2 more times before I ended with a written quote.   As soon as I get all the finance bugs worked out I will be taking delivery of a new LT40HDG25 with the factory installed debarker.  8)

This is a lot more than the LT 27 I started out considering, but all of the suggestions and recomendations received from members of this forum led me to my final decision.

There were even a number of guys walk up to the display and say they had an LT40 Hyd and have had no problems, some with thousands of hours on them.

And the most important thing......The wife was even impressed!

Been there, done that.   Never got caught [/b]
Retired and not doing much anymore and still not getting caught

Way to GO!!. now I gotta warn ya, owning a woodmizer is kinda like owning a boat, ya always want one just a little bigger. 8)

Got my WM lt40g24, Setworks and debarker in oct. '97, been sawing part time ever since, Moving logs with a bobcat.

Congratulations Buck!  You will be pleased with its performance. Before you know it, you will have orange blood ;D

Heya Doc
Congrats.I think you will be happy with your decision. Is it a remote/command unit or a walk-along? Ive had one of each and they both have their pluses. On the WM service thing, Ive had my LT70 for about 9 months now. Of couse its still under warranty but the consumables arnt covered(belts, blades , blade guides , etc) you know the stuff. Well anyways, for a  reason which I just discovered, my mill was going thru drive belts about one every 300 hours.  Well even though they arnt covered by warranty, WM kept sending them to me nocharge till I figured out the alignment thing.(Ima goof). I thought that was cool.   ;D ;D ;D

And I was just talkin to the guy who bought my old 1996 LT40HDG35 and with 4000 hours on her, she's still cutting 1500 bdft of birch everyday ;D ;D ;D
GOLDEN RULE : The guy with the gold, makes the rules.

Congratulations DR_Buck

You will enjoy the mill!!  I bought my mill last Feb. and it has worked out well. The debarker is a good option to have. I was cutting some logs this evening with a lot of mud on them. Sure beats having to debark the log by hand each time.

Better look out for that one!  There are a number of women sawyers out there.  Many of them running Wood-Mizers.

You may be asking her... "When do I get a turn?"

Congratulations!

Boy DR_Buck your in trouble now. First thing you know you'll be driving down the road and almost go in the ditch looking at trees. Patty hates going for a ride in the country with me as I'm always pointing out trees that would make good lumber.

And as for your wife she'll be relieved to see you eyeing the next door neighbors' red oak and not the red head he's married to. :D

Don't worry you will simply be joining every arborist, forester who also has developed sensory driving skills.  I often tell my wife...I am wearing the tires evenly - or - plenty of road when you drive the middle lane. :D

Often inform 'new' arborists that the risk of injury while driving increases the more you look at trees.
