I suppose I'll add a few of the new ones I've gotten...I've since pulled my camera for Halloween-season surveillance of scofflaws  :D

9-pointer that almost touches in the middle...he just showed up on camera within the last few weeks.  I showed a few folks the picture and they swear they have seen this exact same deer about a mile away...they all remember the touching main beams.  I guess he likes to swim because that's the only way around that fence in the background :)

8-pointer that I've been watching all year

I hate to be a naysayer, but I can't help myself any longer. Trail cam photos of deer in an enclosure just don't do it for me no matter how big their antlers.  I guess I am jaded as I have taken care of the web sites over the last ten years for 3 different deer game farms and still do one.  I see all of these hunt photos every year of people with these great big bucks and know where they were taken. Might as well get your picture taken with a milk cow.   Yes, I know they are wild, I know they can still be difficult to hunt, but they are still in a confined area and given every thing they need to make them as big and healthy as possible and monitored every moment of their lives so you know most every habit they have. Just not even close to being the same as capturing images of a truly wild deer in a true natural environment.
I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

I couldn't agree more, I've watched the hunting shows on The Outdoor Channel and it's hard to see the challenge when the guy is posing with a deer head that has a tag in the ear...looks more like livestock than wildlife.  I put a camera up as a means to survey our deer population within the security fence of one of our water treatment facilities.  Are these deer fenced in so that we can hunt them?  Not at all.  Are they pressured to leave?  Not at all.  Does it somewhat detract from the allure by seeing the fence in the background?  You bet it does.  Sure, it's not the same as tracking down a deer in the wild and getting a great photo of it, not even close...it's simply a means for me to gather data on a population that is in desperate need of some herd management.

Can't you reposition that camera? ;)

That 8 pointer is a pretty deer. It looks more like our northern deer than some of the other photos you posted VT.  Maybe I'm just biased, but not all deer look as pretty as that one. ;)

I'll have to get some pictures tomorrow of the area...they have worn a cowpath-esque groove right next to the fence.  For whatever reason they really like walking next to it.  I'd have to hang my camera on the fence, but they'd probably knock it off when they brush up against it  :D

How close is the water/lake to the fence? Up here when we had strong deer herds, a couple decades back, the deer made nice paths around all the lakes over in an area we call the "North Pole". Made walking in that heath and shrubs a heck of a lot easier. Otherwise without those deer paths you would feel like you waded 4 feet of snow all day.  Along the edge of fresh clearcuts up there you could easily see 40-50 deer together.

SD,

There is a spot where the path is the only thing between the water and the fence...about 2 feet wide is all there is :)

I wish I'd had my camera tonight, I had to go pick my dad up after his pickup broke down and on the way I saw my wife's good friends pickup along the road and I knew they were bow hunting.  I popped over a little hill and DanG near creamed a very nice 5x5 not 50 yards from their truck.  I no more than got by him, turned a corner and had a bigger buck (although I'm not sure of the points on him) almost cream me.  Called the misses and told her she better call them and tell them what they're missing  :D.

Autocar

Every morning this week I have had deer jump out of corn feilds right in front of me. The rut is on and I drive alot slower.

What kind of trail cams are you guys using?  They have much nicer pictures than mine, but then again I bought it in '03 and I'm sure even the bottom of the line ones are better than mine   :D

I had it setup about 150 yds from the edge of the backyard, along a small brook.  I consistently had a lot of pics of deer but never really had any large bucks come through.  One night I had some friends over and we were up drinking by the fire, got talking about the trail cam, and pulled up some of the past pics I had on the 'puter to show them.  I showed them where it was and how it worked and they walked around in front of it a couple times to give it the 'test'.

We went back to drinking by the fire and hanging out relaxing.  Well sure enough, a couple days go by and I decide to check the trail cam, I put the card in the puter and started scrolling through the pics.  Those danG friends of mine went back at some point that night and ran around right in the camera's view causing it to take all sorts of 'undesirable' pictures!

Let's just say I wasn't too fond of all the moon's I saw that night!  >:(

Now have two Wildgame flash that are $50 and do an ok job. I don't get the better pics that I see with the Bushnell or the Tasco, but am happy regardless.  :) :)

I had the same problem.  My neighbor knew where I put my trail cam and would occasionally give me the #1 salute as he walked past on his exercise stroll.  It was all in fun, just like with your buddies.  I managed to stop that by giving him a color 8X10 of himself for Christmas.  Haven't been saluted since!

That's a good one!  Boy now I wish I didn't delete those pics, I can only imagine the look on their faces if I did that!

My best friends brother put one out a few years ago that would take a video for a few seconds when triggered and one of his co-workers found out where it was, he went as far as driving 90 plus miles away to rent 2 gorilla outfits  :D.  The next time he checked his camera he had 2 big gorillas walking by giving him the old middle finger salute.  I had to chuckle  ;D.

That would be a surprise picture. I got a laugh out of that.  :D
