I recently purchased a small skid steer skidder. I was told it was a Garrett prototype skidder (no markings or decales) built around 1978.  It looks like the old FMC track skidders only alot smaller, its 5ft wide and 12ft long. It has a 2 cylinder Hatz air cooled engine, blade on front and rear, arch on rear blade and hydrolic winch. It weighs about 4000-4500lbs. I bought it to do some commercial thinning in a 30 year old stand of timber I own,so far it does a pretty good job but I know I will be needing parts and repairs in the future. If anyone has seen these or knows anything about them I would appreciate any info. Thanks

Does it use the Same style or possibly the same tracks as the FMC? You could always get ahold of KMC in Canada about possible parts or Wagner Equipment in Estacada Oregon, They build/rebuild Parts for the FMC.. Get alot of our parts from them

Welcome to the forestry forum steve huber!  I second the motion on the pics of your machine. Sounds pretty interesting. Wow! Cool lookIng machine. What engine is in it? How is the hydraulic pump driven? If it is a vintage Garrett, a lot of their early machines have the hydraulic pump driven off a double groove pulley and 2 belts on front of the engine (ford industrial, 172 cu. in.).
Turbosawmill M6 (now M8) Warrior Ultra liteweight, Granberg Alaskan III, lots of saws-gas powered and human powered :D

Wow interesting. Both international and oliver had a lag skidder 3 wheels on each side. Theres was based on a bulldozer chassies. :)
You may check out but you will never leave

Cool you want to sell it? Welcome to the Forum also.

No idea myself who made it but if it is a Garrett, Adam may be able to help on parts.
Here is another thread from Adam Garrett with his contact info.

Im glad somebody picked that thing up.  I had my eye on it on craigslist for quite some time.  If i wasnt 3,000 miles away I would have been all over it.  Good luck with it.

Thanks to all who replied, I tried Adam at Garrett but no answer yet, I'll keep trying. The engine is a Hatz diesel 2 cylinder air cooled around 30 horse. It pulles pretty good. Winch is a Ramsey hydrolic don't know how many lbs but has lots of power. Thanks again, I'll post more pics in the furure.
