deadfall trap....  yep delt with a few of those ,  when i dropping the pines a few did that, and the butt went up about 12 ft in the air.   farmer hooked onto them with the tractor and snapped the branches off  well here ya go. ...

I havent had much time to play with a camera when out their. busy busy busy.!
if you look over from the headache rack, to the right about an inch or so.  the popple in front was 15 in dia.   their is a row of red cedars, then you can see the cottonwood directly behind it.   those pines are about 50 to 60 ft tall.  the red cedar that is cut off in the picture , now on the ground too,  was 24 in dia.     those 2 sticks with the red ends, those are 10-12 in dia red cedars that were delimbed.  i need a bigger bar! and a bigger saw!    that whole string is 1/4 mile long,  all scheduled this fall, all 28 in dia,  now we are waiting for an ok ...do it now cause we are done with the pine.

1st  do not try cutting off a ladder, never turns out good.

When i was in the hospital recovering from my broken neck. There was an older gentelman in the floor with me. He was paralized from the chest down. He was useing a ladder to trim a limb when the limb came down it kicked the ladder out. He went straight down on his back breaking it. I heard he passed away a few years later. He was a good guy me and mom used to go to his room and play cards with him a couple of times a week. I liked to visit but was kind of hard playing cards with barely working fingers at that time.

I cut a lot of Jack pine like that, we called them Apple Jack. Butt 10' to 16' in that air, i'd fall-en and have to limb from the top back. This was back when i was piece cutting, really hard to get a good stick count.
When i got a skidder we ran over them to knock them down. This is when you want -20 then there are no limbs left.

When i got hurt the doc's gave me 4 to 5 yrs, maybe, if i was lucky. Here i am 23 yrs later still bothering people.
semologger something as simple as holding cards is a job. If i played i would have to use a card holder.
Third generation logger, owner operator, 30 yrs felling experience with pole skidder. I got my neck broke back in 89, left me a quad. The wife kept the job going up to 96.
