I sawed up some red cedar to repair the porch that the oak tree destroyed. Still have the handrails to do but the roof is on. Yahoo! Momma's happy. Markd

Two LT70s, Nyle L200 kiln, 4 head Pinheiro planer, 30" double surface Cantek planer, Lucas dedicated slabber, Slabmizer, and enough rolling stock and chainsaws to keep it all running.

Man I love working with those big beams. They are a bear to handle by yourself, but well worth the effort. I just got the roof on my front porch, the beams were ERC 6x6, two 16 footers and a 12. I horsed them up there one end at a time.

mine are 6x 8's x14ft but they're dry cedar and not too heavy, but like you I had to put them up one end at a time. I made the floor joists 2 1/2" x6" and they felt pretty solid.
