I am siding a garden shed with white cedar and need to know if it can be nailed up the same day I saw it. If not, then how long to dry it?

if your talking eastern white cedar, it will shrink like anything else. Then again ive used kd white pine %12 and that shrinks too.

It's fine to put up green, just remember that it IS going to dry and shrink a bit in place, so take that into account when you nail it up.

Board and batten siding for example allows for the shrinkage to take place in the gaps between the boards, and this is covered by the batten.

Cedar shrinks less than most other woods as it dries, but it still going to move.

I'm locked in to horizontal lapped construction (we want it to match a nearby barn) so I will try to be patient and allow it to dry somewhat. I know board and batten would have been ideal for green wood but that is not going to happen on this project.

Bob,

You will be amazed by how fast it will dry.

Yes, Atlantic White dries very quickly, and without much movement.  Just a few weeks in an open shed, and it will be as dry as it's going to get.  That is, hands down, my favorite wood to saw. ;D

Allright, I won't have to patient very long at all. Thanks!
