My CB furnace is up and running now for a week, got the hot water "hot" in the house. Makes dishes and cloths cleaner, just have to be careful on showers but we like it like it is. I cut it down to 165 for the summer on just the hot water. Now I need to hook up the hot tub. After looking at the application instructions on CB web site, why would you need a thermostate valve going into the hot tub heat exchanger? My dealer didn't make a big deal out of it off the water heater, a CL 5036. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have the 3 way valve and all the rest of what CB said to hook it up with but I was just wondering on the thermostatic valve they show in the instructions?

Sorry, misunderstood the question.  :-\

Had a look at my 6048 (2008) manual and there is no mention of these valves.  They are mentioned in my E2400 (late 2010) manual though.  Maybe CB decided they are a requirement across their entire product line?  IMHO, since they are shown in CB's instructions, I'd use one.

Edit to add:

Just in case you aren't already aware, you only need one of these valves per pump/loop leaving the furnace.  If there is already one installed upstream of your hot tub branch, you don't need to install another.  If you are planning to run another loop directly from your OWB, you'll need one.

I got the plumbing done to the hot tub and didn't get time to do the electric. It started raining here hard today. I went ahead and cut the tub on but without the electric it must shut the bypass valve and sent the hot water back to the owb. Maybe I'll try to do the electric tomorrow.
