There are small saw jobs and small saw logs.  This one had both.  Seven SYP logs about 10' long and the largest was probably 12" little end.

At least it paid for the new sawmill battery that I had to buy yesterday.   ;D

I didn't take a picture but day before yesterday Mary and I put a flat on one side of two cedar sticks about 4" diameter and 4' long.  It was like trying to hold a BB in a bench vice.  Some things just don't make sense.

Yup Steve, The customer was skidding the 7th one when I took the picture.  Actually, I did not want him to see me taking the picture.

I am really glad that this was for a longtime friend, because somehow that made me feel better and the lost effort morning worthwhile.  At least we had a nice visit.   :)

For those short small one I mounted 2  1-1/2 id square tubes upright about 3' apart with the clamp centered in the middle.  Then cut 1-1/2 " squares out of hardwood and use those to hold the small ones without haveing to worry about sawing through the stops . Those get quite a bit of use, also holds sticker boards a lot better than the clamps.   Steve

Hey MM,
What did you cut those little logs into?  Can you make dimensional other that boxed heart stuff that won't twist up on drying? I love seeing your work, even the small, itsy bitsy tiny for you jobs. For some of us, seven small logs takes a bit of time.  ;D

Sorry about the small sawing job there. I would have done one like that too, and I do quite frequently too.
But I like your new wheels. How are you getting along with her? PC

Our scragg doesn't like 12" logs.  Need to be smaller for it to be happy.
We just ran 80 3" logs through the peeler, we have 112 2 1/4", then 310  1 1/4" x 4'.  We like small logs.  (Is a 1 1/2" x 4' really alog?)

In the ancient past we did some small poplar logs.  They would bow 6" when one face was cut.  Off bearer had to lift end of log and slowly let it down as the mill traveled.  Then go to top end , lift as need as the saw finished the cut.
Know how you feel MM.

Yesterday I drove 55 miles each way to mill 8 cedar logs 10-13" diameter.  Five were 5' long and 4 were 30" long.  One of them was full of ants. There was a nice whack of short boards.

Lynn,
Did he skid the 7th log, or just carry it on his shoulder to your mill?

I sawed as many 2X4's & 2X6's as they would make.  The side lumber was 1X4's & 1X6's.  All of the lumber will be used for building deer stands and shooting houses.

I guess that I need to be more careful with my picture's background because you guys busted me with my new ride.  I wasn't but maybe I'll do a truck thread.   ;D

Hmmmm.... I think most of the stuff I will end up cutting on my mill will be about that same size, at least with the trees that are on my property...
