... it first sounded like a freight train back on the northern mountain tops, then within a minute the worst wind I remember in these parts. We pride ourselves in these WV mountain that tornadoes almost never hit. I guess this time was the closest and caused havic across the county. We could hear timber popping and falling back on the ridges, but daylight will tell the story. The old WM is in standtby, but I dread what I may find. Sounds like everyone is safe, just lots a trees blocking roads along with numerous power lines down. I now have a greater respect for you fellas who face this more often. Stay safe.
Since I retired I really like work: It fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours.

Glad you are OK. That's a nasty looking line on radar.

Hope you're safe. Can't imagine having to dodge twisters, give me a nor'easter any day over one.

I am glad to hear that you and your family are all safe.  Just be careful tomorrow.  Power lines and tree hang-ups are dangerous.

bugdust, Heck of a storm!!  Having to drive through it made our trip pretty interesting (understatement).  I believe we traveled along the entire front end of it on I-79 South from Summersville to Charleston.  I never seen roads signs get literally twisted off their posts and take flight.  There were a couple of the big signs relocated...and they use I-beam for posts.  We made it home safe but unfortunately there were several (a couple BAD) accidents on 79 and 77.  I think the whole county is outta power!  Last lights we saw burning were at Ravenswood; looks dark clear into Ohio...even the cell phone towers have quit blinking.

Hope noone else gets hurt by it!  I'm thankful the Good Lord provided us safe passage.

We got hammered in our area too. No power here so we are trying to stay cool. I have a small generator to keep the refrigerator cold and the well pump running when we need it. To me it is like camping out at home. Improvise adapt and overcome.
I am on call with my day job delivering Propane and the phone has been busy. I am trying to put off going out until this evening after they get things cleaned up. Everybody wants propane for their generator.
I hope everyone made it through ok. As for the ones without power like me,  they say it is going to be awhile. So lets hang in there and be careful.

Here she comes again boys!!!  Doesn't look quite as bad, but we are expecting 70mph+ winds, hail, and rain.  Just finished battening down the hatches as we are up high w/ no wind break.  Hope everyone affected makes it through OK.

I'm just about getting worried about making the trip back up to our property later this week. I'm wondering what I'll see blown over. ::)

Wasn't too horrible.  Pretty windy, but short lived.  Best thing about it was....COOL air.  Temps dropped 20 deg in 20 min.  Will make for a nice change from the heat!  And we needed the rain.
