Poplar dries so fast, it would be dry in a few weeks in their shop, especially if the logs are already dry.

POSTONLT40HD,

Sounds like a great idea but I have a question, for that price your not kiln drying the lumber are you?  The $.63 per foot is dirt cheap compaired to buying at Home Depot and I think we all know that it is *DanG near impossible to find anything straight at the box store.

The Poplar I'm selling now has been in log form off the ground for 2 years. When I sawed these logs, the boards came out bone dry.

When I start to sell the greener Poplar, I will just Anchor Seal the ends. It really doesn't take that long to do it. Besides, my sone got the "sealing bug" yesterday after school. I let him roll on the Anchor Seal on some Pecan. He loves it.

I wish I had more time for these projects that make a little extra money for blades mill stuff, you guys are awesome and always thinking about ways to get a few extra bucks out of your sawmill products.
Having those customers is great and they tell their friends about you and all of your products such as lumber and specialty items.
Great idea David and Ian on the chair kits as well as everyone who thinks about their products and customers needs. Keep it up everyone it incredible the things that the forum members can come up with and the extra money thats just a few cuts away.

How did you keep your mill running properly when you were using all your brain power on this idea?!  :D :D :D

Just kidding... Its an awesome idea and I'm glad its working out for you. Worn out = cheap, Vintage = $$$ but both are the same thing just depends on which viewpoint you take.
There are no problems; only solutions we haven't found yet.

Poston, I understand there are a few species of Popalar. I haven't cut much of it. Are you cutting         "Tulip Popalar" or some other species.  Ive heard wood workers say they like the Tulip Popalar.

I've been sawing Tulip Poplar which is Yellow Poplar. And really Tulip / Yellow Poplar is not a member of the Poplar family.....rather it is a Magnolia.  :)
