We've been planning on doing some planting on our family property in Frankston, TX. I've been planning on thinning out some cedars which will be good for the place as soon as I can get it done, but in the mean time we went and planted a little over 1000 pine seedlings, 25 Alleghany chinkapin and lots of post oaks I grew from acorns.

On March 11th we are going to have we are taking some kids up to the place and we will have a biologist out to talk to them about wildlife habitat and beneficial trees, and probably a forester to talk to them about the different types of trees, how they grow and where they're native to. After the talks we will give them hands on training with planting the types of trees they learn about such as white oak, chesnut oaks, red and water oaks, alleghany chinkapin, and some American chestnut trees donated by the American Chestnut Foundation.

If anyone here is close to the area and know a bit of something about planting seedlings and would like to come share your expertise you'd surly be welcome...plus we could use extra digging tools...lol

Anyway, afterwards we're going to take them to lake Palestine to camp and fish and hook them up with a wild game dinner. Going to be a good time and a lot of good info....

Here's a pic of some of the pine seedlings we've planted and our forestry event flyer below that...
