The sawyer suggested spraying termiticide on the top surface of wood and sticker as I stack boards.
I told the sawyer these would be for use in outbuilding projects, nothing fancy so neither of us were concerned about cosmetics/staining, but I did wonder if I should be spraying BOTH sides of the wood?
I did spray the ends.
I used another termiticide that I had on hand, but he suggested Pyrethrin (spelling?).
Any red flags here, guys?
Any other 'must do' things for yellow pine in the Southeast?
thanks for any advice or comments.

I must say, getting some wood back from trees felled, bucked, transported by me was quite the thrill.  I honestly can't wait to be milling some on my own one day.

Also, he charged .40/bf, which we agreed upon in advance.  Overall, I'm pleased with the sawyer, his work, and the amount of lumber generated.
I just don't want to let any of this work/money go to waste, that's why I'm asking about the spraying.  He also mentioned that he doesn't use Anchorseal on the ends of pine, just sprays for termites upon cutting, top side only. The sap is coming out of the ends as we speak.
Thoughts?

get a cheep box fan and keep the air moving thru the stack for a week or so, if you have it stacked in the dry someplace.
as long as you keep it off the ground and dont let the termites get tunnels built to the stack you are good.

i dont think the spray will hurt anything if you want to use it.

It's under a shed to dry.  I reworked a makeshift tractor shed to store the lumber out of direct rain. It's stickered, of course and I chainsawed up a cross tie to stack on.
A small portion of the side of the stack is getting direct sunlight, so I'm going to cover the top of the stack with some large pieces of tin.
Thanks for the reply, ely.
The spray seems to make good sense for this neck of the woods.

Keep it dry by stacking it well off the ground. Best termite deterrent around. Cheap too! Pyrethrin comes in many formulations and most of them will break down within a week. So what good will that do? You can get bifenthrin formulations that will last 3 months, but still, what's the point? Sticker and stack it well off the ground and you won't have termite issues.

Thanks for the replies.
I got the tin placed on top of everything and I'm good to go.

Now I'm looking around at which trees are next to become dust and boards.... :)
