Drying oak... Have before, but have them in new spot and showing green mold around stickers.

Have them in a room with no airflow.  Turned on air conditioner and a fan.

some 4/4, some 8/4 red oak. been stacking over course of a  couple months. Only first stacks are begininning to show mold.

Do I have to unstack them? Should I spray them(with moisture) and bleach or fungicide?  Or will air flow/ and air conditioner "remedy" the problem..

Thanks for any advice....

What was the sticker moisture content when stacking.......?
Pic or two of the problem... would help.

Maybe add a dehumidifier to the mix. ???

stickers were old, old.. They had been used before & had been sitting in grain bin(where I previously dried wood, before trying it this time in an indoor room)

Will an air conditioner work as a de-humidifier??

thanks.

may be a day or two before I get pics posted(girlfriend required)

An AC unit will work if you both let the hot air blow into the  room and provide an exit to outdoors for the condensate. That is how dehumidifiers work. The cold side also needs to be inside the room, if that isn't already obvious, since that is where the moisture will be collected.

I'm not a lumber man but the biggest thing is airflow .

For instance if you drive around Holmes county Ohio which is prime oak country you can find endless stacks of stickered oak under portable tin roofs air drying in  the open yards.

Even say conventional lumber yards with bundled kiln dried framing lumber keep them in open sided sheds so they get air flow .

Holmes County,18 hours from Maine, but boy If someone could get me there and tell me I was still In Maine,I would believe them. Not just the trees,or the lay of the land, but the farms and homes too.

your whole problems lay with no air flow, sticker moisture dosen't matter here. air flow is a must when stickering wood for air drying.
the 3 most important thing with air drying.
1) air flow
2) air flow
3) air flow
did i mention air flow? :D
