i had to replace a cylinder, and will probably be short on fluid.  I thought I had a quart or so of the regular stuff, but I can't find it.

What spec is your WM Hydraulic fluid?  The easy answer is yes but under ideal conditions all the fluid should be of the same spec and classification.

Gets done all the time everyday, it will still work, just has negative longer term effects.

I've used aw-32 hydraulic fluid $10/gal from the car supply chain coastal auto no apparent problems but I keep mostly wm cold weather fluid in it

The road tech told me to use a synthetic ATF fluid in my lt40super.
I think that regular hydraulic fluid is to thick and will make your system slower.

I think you're right, i only used it in a pinch when I didn't have the WM cold weather fluid on hand.

I'm thinking it would work, but would recomend all the same fluid,  a lil more down time is all you will be out, without the risk of any other weird issues down the road,
only have a few chain saws I'm not suppose to use, but will at times, one dog Dolly, pretty good dog, just not sure what for yet,  working on getting the gardening back in order, and kinda thinking on maybe a small bbq bizz,  thinking about it,

I was told to use ATF fluid all the time. For the hydraulics and for lubing all the chains. I like that I only need 1type of fluid in the "kit"
