A fella saw me milling for the local council at one of their landfill sites, and gave me a call about some brushbox in his backyard.

Access was good enough for the mill and ute, so no having to lug the mill from the roadside out the front was good.

There was a day of milling smaller "branches" logs up to 450mm (18") but bob wasn't back on deck after a recent spate of https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php/topic,66162.0.html and I couldn't get onto the bigger logs before getting Bob back up running.

Take a look at the trunk...

that's a 20l fuel can for reference - nice logs for Sparky  ;)

Slicing the initial branches...

One of the billets I managed to roll around and get into the mill when I got bob workin - he had no chance of picking up even the smallest billet from the main trunk

bit of a idea what these slabs will end up like

lastly, a pic of the customer, next to his 'baby'

we ripped this into 4x4's so he could make legs for furniture and/or get them treated for fence posts. We found about half a dozen of these lunch sized Bear Grylls treats in this last log...

I got to meet a great old fella by the name of Gil, he's worked the timber industry felling trees before chainsaws came in. I went to hand him some ear protection - his reply no thanks, I'll just turn these off...double hearing aids. Had this kind of smile on his face, I reckon will be there for a few weeks yet, stood there with the wind blowing sawdust on him and he didn't blink, almost like he was saying hello to an old mate. I reckon that chap would have had the most amazing stories...I got what I could out of him in the 3 days I was there, an amazing richness of stories in that old fella....I just loved it.

Also loved only using 2 tanks of fuel in this new EFI mill over the 3 days of milling.

;D just love my job ;)

I like those gators to keep the sawdust out of your boots. Are they purchased or custom made? Nice logs too!

Bear Grylls seems to be able to eat just about anything - even maggot ridden road kill goes down his gullet. I've got a good stomach, but man I can't fathom some of the stuff he gobbles up  ;D

Apparently our golden perch love these kind of bugs - scored me a nice fat golden perch in my kayak a few weekends ago (my first) but I use lures rather than bait, so not sure how they go fishin  ;)

Jemclimber, most our department stores like K Mart will sell these for under $5, they are great around the sawmill, especially when using the chainsaw a lot, keeps the muck outta ya boots ;)

That tree is way bigger than it appears in the first few photos and the lumber sure looks nice.  In the first photo posted what is the yellow thing stuck in the knothole at the top of the log?
