I have chainsaw pants but they are to hot now that the temps have been hitting mid to upper 80's . Stihl chaps are all I can buy locally and after reading the recent posts on the absolute wisdom of wearing chaps I have made the decision to only cut with them on from now on. I am 48  and have never had more than a scratch while running a saw these past 35 + years and would like to keep it that way.

get some labonville summer pants with kevlar snap in pads  I had to work last summer in AZ and it was bloody hot. they are a super tough open weave nylon. they are the wicked tough too. and the slightest brezze blows right though. Those Stihl chaps are way too bulky and and not much better than stihl or husky summer pants.

Watch the chain threshold speed rating on those Stihl's, they make a light weight lower cost version that is only rated at I believe 2600 ft/min. Better than nothing but do not meet professional requirements. Most workman's comp rules require 3600.

Where do you find the threshold speed rating that you mention?

Listed on a Stihl site with the different chaps?

Not sure if they list the specs, but they sell cheaper "homeowner" chaps, and heavier duty "pro" ones. The speed rating and the durability of the material would be the difference. The cheap ones are 100X better than no chaps. The pro ones give a bit better protection again, and should wear better.

The rating should be on a tag attached to the chaps.

The Stihl 9 ply full wraps are great but as you say they are rather warm in the summer. Anytime you have full wraps they trap more heat but they give a lot more protection.  Tradeoffs.
